@rhay3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a compatible stylus for your Chromebook!

Glad to hear you've got yourself an HP Chromebook x360 — it’s a great choice! 😊 I understand you’re looking to use a stylus for drawing and taking notes for uni, so let me clarify how that works with your Chromebook model.

For the HP Chromebook x360 14a ca1015cl, there aren’t any active styluses officially supported. However, you can use a passive stylus without any issues.

Here’s the difference between active and passive styluses:

  • Active stylus – This type communicates directly with the screen and can support extra features like palm rejection, right-click, and hover. Since your Chromebook doesn’t have an active digitizer, active styluses (including non-HP ones) might not work properly.
  • Passive stylus – This works like your finger on the touchscreen. It doesn’t need batteries or pairing, and most passive styluses should work fine with your Chromebook.

So, while you won’t get the advanced features of an active stylus, a passive stylus will still let you draw and take notes comfortably.

If you need more help or have any other questions, feel free to reach out — happy to assist!

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes. 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
