HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D120AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have one external monitor connected via HMDI - it is detected and working.

I cannot get the other external monitor to be detected. It is connected via HDMI, thru a docking station connected to my computer.

I want to run the 2 external displays, and work with the laptop closed, set to "do nothing" when lid is closed.

BUT - can only get one monitor detected.

Any suggestions

How are you connecting the second monitor?  On my older HP Pro book G4 (2017 model) i have been using a USB-C travel dock and using 2 monitors just fine for quiet some time.  however, i also just purchased a new HP laptop, despite the description that i should support display port over USB-C  I also can confirm it does not seem to have video support on USB-C.

that being said it should work just find on USB-A the regular port to hdmi.

have you tried that?

or USB a to VGA (blaa.. i know) just curious
