HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K634AV)

Bonjour,

  • l’analyse via le BIOS (aucune option liée à la caméra ou à la confidentialité) ;

  • l’examen des raccourcis clavier et logiciels HP (HP Command Center, myHP…) ;

Cordialement,
Michaël de Sousa Amaral

EDIT

Hello,

I own an HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop 14-eu0xxx (Product Number: 9E4Y0EA#UUZ, Serial Number: 5CD427B8NR), equipped with an Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H processor and 32 GB of RAM.

I'm experiencing an issue with the built-in camera: although the white LED turns on when I open an application (such as Zoom, Teams, or the Windows Camera app), the image remains stuck on a striped graphical shutter. I want to clarify that there is no physical shutter or button, and I haven't found any settings in the BIOS or HP utilities that would allow me to disable this graphic.

I have tried:

checking the BIOS (no options related to the camera or privacy);

reviewing keyboard shortcuts and HP software (HP Command Center, myHP…);

updating drivers and the BIOS (current version: F.13 dated 10/29/2024).

I'm attaching a photo showing the striped shutter image displayed on the screen when the camera is activated.

Could you let me know whether this behavior is normal or if it’s a defect? If so, how can I disable this software shutter or have the device repaired?

Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Best regards,

Michaël de Sousa Amaral

@Forcados, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Built-In Webcam on HP Spectre x360!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To address the issue with the built-in webcam on your HP Spectre x360, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Step 1: Verify Camera Access Settings

Ensure that your operating system allows applications to access the webcam.

Windows 11

  1. Right-click the Start button, then select Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Make sure the setting under Camera access is set to On.
  3. Under Let apps access your camera, select On for the apps you want to have access to the webcam.

Windows 10

  1. From the Start menu, click Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  2. In the Allow apps to access your camera section, choose the setting that is most applicable for your webcam.
  3. Under Choose which apps can access your camera, set your preferred individual settings to On or Off.

Step 2: Update Webcam Drivers

Outdated drivers can cause issues with webcam functionality. Update the drivers to ensure compatibility and functionality.

Using HP Support Assistant

  1. Search for and open HP Support Assistant from the taskbar.
  2. On the My Dashboard tab, find your computer, and then click Updates.
  3. Select the listed updates, download, and install the updates, then follow any on-screen instructions.
  4. Restart your computer if prompted.

Using Device Manager

  1. Search for and open Device Manager.
  2. In the list of devices, expand Imaging devices.
  3. Right-click your camera, then select Update driver.
  4. Select Search automatically for drivers.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and restart your computer.

Step 3: Uninstall and Reinstall Webcam Software

If the problem persists, your webcam software may need a fresh installation.

  1. Search for and open Add or remove programs.
  2. Select your webcam software (e.g., Zoom, Teams), and click Uninstall.
  3. Visit the software website and download the latest version of the application.
  4. Install the software and restart your computer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @Forcados,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Since @zoey7886 is away at the moment, I'll be assisting you further.

No worries at all about the delay, and I really appreciate you trying all the suggested steps so thoroughly.

Since the issue persists despite checking the OS privacy settings, updating drivers, and reinstalling the software, it does appear this may point to either a deeper firmware-level configuration or a potential hardware fault.

To move forward, here’s what I recommend next:

Double-check Windows Device Manager:

Open Device Manager > Cameras or Imaging Devices.

Right-click your camera > Disable device, wait 10 seconds, then right-click again > Enable device.

If that doesn’t help, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the camera driver.

Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics:

Shut down the laptop completely.

Power it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.

Press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run the component tests for the webcam, this can help confirm if the issue is hardware-related.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
