I have my laptop connected via hdmi to my monitor. Randomly the monitor goes blank and says no hdmi connection. At the same time, my laptop plays a little annoying jingle. Then usually the display comes back on without my doing anything. This cycyling on and off happens as often as every couple of minutes. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this a laptop problem or monitor problem?

Welcome to the HP support community.

If you haven't, please try an alternate monitor to understand if this is either a hardware or a software failure.

Meanwhile:-

Reduce the notebook display settings

  1. Close all open windows.

  2. Right-click the desktop and select Properties.

  3. Click the Settings tab on the Display Properties window.

  4. Under Screen Resolution, move the slider to adjust the display resolution slider.

    Figure : Screen Resolution slider

  5. Click OK to change the settings. It may be necessary to restart the notebook to make the changes permanent.

Reset the monitor

  1. If the monitor has a factory reset or restore option, set it. Press the Menu button on the front panel and select Factory Reset.

  2. Wait 5 seconds and then turn on the computer by pressing the Power button again.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
