Hi @Bruvionw,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's touchpad or mouse pad is not working, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Restart your laptop: This may seem like an obvious solution, but sometimes a simple restart can solve the problem.
- Check your touchpad settings: Make sure that your touchpad is not disabled. On some laptops, there is a key or a combination of keys that can disable the touchpad. Check your laptop's user manual for the correct key combination.
- Update drivers: Check if there are any updates available for your touchpad driver. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website. Download and install the latest driver for your touchpad.
- Uninstall the touchpad driver: If updating the driver did not work, try uninstalling the touchpad driver from your device manager and then restart your computer. This will force Windows to reinstall the touchpad driver, which can sometimes solve the problem.
- Check for hardware issues: If none of the above solutions worked, it may be a hardware issue. Try connecting an external mouse to your laptop and see if it works. If it does, then the problem is likely with your touchpad hardware. In this case, you may need to get your laptop serviced or replace the touchpad.
- Check for physical damage: Sometimes, the touchpad may not work due to physical damage or wear and tear. Check your touchpad for any visible damage, such as cracks or scratches. If there is damage, you may need to replace the touchpad.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
