Hi @Yash186,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Restart Your Laptop

  • Sometimes, simply restarting the device can resolve update-related issues. Try restarting your laptop to see if the touchpad starts working again.

Enable Touchpad

  • Ensure that the touchpad is enabled. You can do this by:
    • Pressing the F5 or Fn + F5 key (or another function key with a touchpad icon) as different models have different keys to toggle the touchpad on/off.
    • Going to Settings > Devices > Touchpad to check if the touchpad is enabled.

Update Touchpad Driver

  • Open Device Manager: Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand "Mice and other pointing devices".
  • Right-click on the touchpad device (usually an entry with "Synaptics" or "Elan" in the name) and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software to see if Windows can find a better driver.

Reinstall the Touchpad Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click your touchpad device and select Uninstall device. Confirm any prompts.
  • Restart your laptop. The touchpad driver should automatically be reinstalled.

HP Support Assistant

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to detect and install the latest drivers automatically. You can download the HP Support Assistant from HP's official website.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and see if there are additional updates available that might resolve the issue.

Perform System Restore

  • If none of the above works, you might consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a point before the update was installed.
  • Search for "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and follow the prompts to select a restore point.

I hope this helps.
