HP rechargeable MPP2.0 tilt pen 3J122AA

I have a HP Chromebook x360 model 14c, I did my research and it says the stylus should be compatible and yet it isn't recognising my Chromebook.

@andrea200617, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP MPP 2.0 pen!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I see you're trying to connect your HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen (3J122AA) to your HP Chromebook x360 14c, but it's not being recognized. That’s frustrating, especially when you've done the research and expected them to work together. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this!

Check Compatibility

While many HP devices support MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol) pens, most Chromebooks—including the HP Chromebook x360 14c—are designed to work with USI (Universal Stylus Initiative) pens instead. Unfortunately, the HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen is not USI-based, which might explain why it’s not being recognized.

Confirm Chromebook Stylus Support

  • You can check if your Chromebook supports USI pens by going to Settings > About Chrome OS > Additional details and looking for stylus support.
  • If your device is USI-compatible, you may need to use an HP USI Stylus or another USI-certified pen instead.

Try a Basic Reset

If you're unsure about compatibility and want to rule out a minor issue:

  • Restart your Chromebook.
  • Make sure your stylus is fully charged.
  • Try pairing the pen via Bluetooth (if applicable).

Next Steps

If you’re looking for a stylus that works seamlessly with your Chromebook, I’d recommend checking for USI-certified pens like the HP USI Active Pen.

Let me know if you’d like recommendations or if you have any other questions! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
