my hp pavilion laptop starts making aloud buzzing noise whilst displaying a dark screen. i have tried all suggestions to resolve the issue but haven't succeeded. i have changed over 3 hard drives and re run windows severally but the issue still is not resolved. also have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but the issue doesn't go away. no specific action triggers the said conflict. i could simply be doing basic tasks as watching a movie or surfing the net when this happens. i would really appreciate help to resolve this as its become frustrating.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer screen goes blank and the computer starts making a loud buzzing noise.

 

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

Is the noise coming from the fan?

 

I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

 

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105982.exe

 

Chipset: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100501-101000/sp100800.exe

 

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the steps in the below article and run a system test.

thanks for the feedback!!.  i have updated the bios and chip-set at the moment. this seems to have solved the issue of buzzing noise only. The laptop now only goes or appears to show a dark screen but doesn't shut off. the screen appears to suggest it is on sleep mode, because lights and power button are still on.  it doesn't respond to any commands when in this state though, i have to  entirely shut it down and restart by holding the power button. i have noticed sleep options aren't available in my power options entirely as i was looking to disable that.
