@menson123, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

External Display Test

Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI.

If the external monitor works fine, your laptop LCD panel or cable is faulty.

If the external monitor also flickers, it’s likely a graphics driver or hardware issue.

Update or Roll Back Display Drivers

Right-click Start > Device Manager > Expand Display adapters.

Right-click your graphics card (likely Intel HD Graphics or NVIDIA 940M), then:

Select Update driver > Search automatically.

If issue started after an update, choose Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.

Disable Hardware Acceleration (Windows)

Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.

Turn on "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" — or turn it off if already enabled (this depends on what works better).

In apps like Chrome or Firefox:

Go to settings > Advanced > System > Turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available".

Check Refresh Rate

Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings.

Make sure the refresh rate is set to 60Hz (or your screen’s native rate).

BIOS and HP Diagnostics

Update BIOS

Go to the HP Support page for your model.

Download and install the latest BIOS update for 15-ab516tx.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Press ESC repeatedly on boot > then F2 to open HP Hardware Diagnostics.

Run a Display Test and System Test.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
