Hi @Jishnu1200,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Adaptive brightness can sometimes be controlled by settings outside of the typical display settings menu. Here are a few methods to disable it on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC.
Disable Adaptive Brightness in Power Options
- Open Control Panel: You can do this by typing "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and selecting it.
- Go to Power Options: In the Control Panel, navigate to "Hardware and Sound" > "Power Options."
- Change Plan Settings: Find your selected power plan and click on "Change plan settings."
- Change Advanced Power Settings: Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Find Display Settings: In the Advanced settings window, scroll down and expand "Display."
- Disable Adaptive Brightness: Under "Enable adaptive brightness," set it to "Off" for both "On battery" and "Plugged in."
Disable from Intel Graphics Control Panel
If your laptop uses Intel graphics, you might be able to disable adaptive brightness from the Intel Graphics Control Panel.
- Open Intel Graphics Control Panel: Right-click on the desktop and select "Intel Graphics Settings" or "Intel Graphics Control Panel."
- Go to Power Settings: Navigate to "Power" or "Display Power Saving Technology."
- Disable Display Power Saving Technology: Disable any power-saving options that control display brightness.
Registry Editor
If the above methods don't work, you can try disabling it through the Registry Editor.
- Open Registry Editor: Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to the Correct Path:
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Display\igfxcui\profiles\Media\Brighten Movie and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Display\igfxcui\profiles\Media\Darken Movie.
- Change the Values:
- Find the "ProcAmpBrightness" entry and set the value to 0.
- Restart Your Laptop: Restart your laptop to apply the changes.
Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers
Sometimes, updating or rolling back your graphics drivers can help resolve the issue.
- Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager (type Device Manager in the Windows search bar) and expand "Display adapters." Right-click on your graphics adapter and select "Update driver."
- Roll Back Drivers: If the problem started after a recent update, you can roll back the driver by selecting "Properties" > "Driver" tab > "Roll Back Driver."

Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows Settings (if applicable)
- Open Settings: Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Display: Navigate to "System" and then "Display."
- Disable Adaptive Brightness: If you see an option like "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes," turn it off.
Try these methods, and one of them should help you disable the adaptive brightness on your HP laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
