my laptop turns on but the screen stays black ive already tried all the shortcuts like power button + f8 power button + esc windows + b/v and nothing seems to work. the only hint i have is that my caps lock button blinks 5 times (slow) and 3 times (fast). It seems to be an hardware problem and i would like to know how to fix it.

@hi_elijah, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding black screen issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The blinking pattern usually corresponds to a specific error code that can help identify the issue. For HP laptops, Caps Lock blinking is often related to problems with the CPU, memory, or motherboard.
Here's a general approach to troubleshoot the issue given the symptoms:
Hard Reset: Sometimes performing a hard reset can resolve hardware errors. To do this:
- Turn off your laptop and disconnect any external devices.
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery if it's removable.
- Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop.
Check Memory Modules: Since memory issues are common, you might need to reseat the RAM modules.
- Turn off the laptop, unplug it, and remove the battery.
- Access the memory compartment by removing the cover (usually located on the bottom of the laptop).
- Carefully remove the RAM sticks and reinsert them, ensuring they are properly seated.
- Replace the cover, reconnect the battery, and try powering on the laptop.
External Monitor Test: Connect an external monitor to your laptop. This will help determine if the issue is with the display or another component.
- If the external monitor displays correctly, the problem might be with your laptop's display or related connections.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
