Hi @CYMBIOT
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Screen flickering can be quite annoying, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop:
Check Display Connections: If you're using an external monitor, ensure all cables are securely connected. If it’s just the laptop screen, proceed to the next steps.
Update Graphics Drivers: Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics driver, and select Update driver.
Adjust Refresh Rate: Sometimes changing the refresh rate can help:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down to Advanced display settings and check the refresh rate. Set it to the recommended value.
Disable Hardware Acceleration: In certain applications (like browsers), hardware acceleration can cause flickering. Try disabling it in the application’s settings.
Test in Safe Mode: Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the flickering persists. If it doesn’t, the issue may be related to a third-party application or driver.
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
Check for External Interference: Sometimes nearby electronic devices can cause interference. Try moving away from other electronics and see if it helps.
Perform a Hard Reset: Shut down your laptop, disconnect it from power, and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, then reconnect everything and start it up.
Check Display Settings: Make sure the screen resolution and scaling settings are appropriate for your display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
