Hi @8CG4030VXV,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your screen flickering or turning black. Since your HP Pavilion x360 2-in-1 laptop is new, this might be a software or hardware issue.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:
1. Check for Updates
- Windows Updates: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and make sure your system is up to date.
- Driver Updates: Visit the HP Support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest drivers for your graphics card and display. Also, ensure you have the latest BIOS update.
2. Check Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Check the Display settings and ensure that the Turn off display option is set to a reasonable time or to Never when plugged in.
3. Adjust Display Settings
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Check the Display adapter properties and ensure that the refresh rate and resolution are set correctly.
4. Check for Conflicting Software
- Sometimes third-party applications can cause display issues. Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. If it doesn’t, it might be caused by software running in normal mode.
- You can also perform a clean boot by disabling startup programs and non-Microsoft services to identify if any application is causing the issue.
5. Test with External Monitor
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV. If the external display works fine, the issue may be with your laptop’s screen or internal connections.
6. Check for Physical Issues
- Ensure there are no loose connections or physical damage to the laptop’s display or internal components.
7. Run Hardware Diagnostics
- HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics. Restart your laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens. Press F2 to access the Diagnostics tool and run a test on the display.
