Hi @atikutega,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm really sorry you're facing this issue with your HP Spectre x360. When the touchpad stops working, it can feel like your laptop has lost its sense of touch, and that can be incredibly frustrating. Let’s walk through the steps to gently bring it back to life.

Steps to Fix Touchpad Issues on Spectre x360

1. Double-Tap to Enable

Some HP Spectre models allow you to toggle the touchpad by double-tapping the top-left corner of the touchpad. Look for a tiny orange LED; if it’s lit, the touchpad is disabled.

  • Gently double-tap that corner.
  • If the light turns off, the touchpad should be active again.

2. Check Touchpad Settings

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
  • Make sure the touchpad is enabled.
  • Adjust sensitivity and gestures if needed.

3. Update Drivers via HP Support Assistant

  • Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.
  • Check for updates to touchpad and chipset drivers.
  • Install any available updates and restart your laptop.

4. Use Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • If the touchpad is listed, right-click > Update driver.
  • If it’s missing, try Scan for hardware changes or reinstall the driver.

5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Turn it on and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Go to Component Tests > Mouse/Touchpad and run the test.
