I bought an HP Pavilion x360 convertible, and today I realized that the touch screen doesn't work. I looked up information in the system and it shows that the device doesn't have a touch screen, which is incorrect since it worked for me until a few months ago. I've tried everything and I can't solve it. The only thing left for me to do is install Windows 11, but I don't want to do it.

@Juan2305, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your touchscreen suddenly stops working, especially on a device like the HP Pavilion x360 that’s designed for touch interaction. Since you mentioned that the touchscreen worked previously and now the system reports that it doesn’t have one, let’s walk through a few steps to restore functionality without needing to upgrade to Windows 11.

Check Device Manager for HID Touchscreen

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
    • If it’s missing, proceed to Step 2.
    • If it’s present but disabled, right-click and choose Enable.

Show Hidden Devices

Sometimes Windows hides inactive devices:

  • In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Check again under Human Interface Devices for the touchscreen.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to test hardware:

  • Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Select Component Tests > Touch Screen Test.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Go to Official HP® Support
  • Enter your HP Pavilion x360 model number.
  • Download and install the latest Touchscreen, Chipset, and BIOS drivers.

Check BIOS Settings

Sometimes touchscreen functionality is disabled in BIOS:

  • Restart your PC and press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Look for any settings related to Touchscreen or Input Devices.
  • Ensure it’s enabled, then save and exit.

System Restore (Optional)

If the touchscreen stopped working recently:

  • Search for System Restore in Windows.
  • Choose a restore point from when the touchscreen was working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
