Hi @tizio121
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining that—when your OMEN 16 laptop shows your desktop but doesn’t let you change the resolution or refresh rate, it’s usually a sign of a graphics driver issue, display detection bug, or a Windows 11 compatibility glitch.
Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore full display control:
✅ 1. Update Graphics Drivers Manually
Even if Windows says drivers are up to date, it may be using generic ones:
- Visit the OMEN 16-c0000 driver page and download the latest:
- Intel Graphics Driver
- NVIDIA or AMD GPU Driver (depending on your model)
- Install both and restart your laptop.
🔄 2. Force Windows to Detect the Display
Sometimes the system doesn’t recognize the internal panel correctly:
- Press Windows + P and select PC screen only.
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display.
- Click Display adapter properties > List All Modes.
- Choose a supported resolution and refresh rate manually.
🧪 3. Use NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Adrenalin
If you have a discrete GPU:
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Adrenalin Software.
- Go to Display > Change resolution.
- Set your preferred resolution and refresh rate.
- If unavailable, try creating a custom resolution.
🔧 4. Check BIOS Graphics Settings
Some OMEN models support GPU switching:
- Restart and press Esc > F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for Graphics Mode or Switchable Graphics.
- Set it to Discrete GPU only or Dynamic Switchable.
- Save and exit.
You’re doing the right thing by tackling this head-on—we’ll get your display back to full clarity and control! 🖥️💪
