So I just bought a used hp pavilion x360. Model 11-n010dx. I was told when i bought it. That the screen iwas black. It happened out of the blue. So i bought it for a reasonable cost. Well. For a a laptop that needed a bit of repair. So. It boots up. Screen glows as if any second. Something is going to appear on it. So I plug in hdmi. It works. But only after loaded to windows login screen. So I cannot get into windows to try and troubleshoot. I cant get it to boot from usb. Because I cannot see the screen. So I cannot wipe the drive with a fresh install. I have read about the bios thing. Holding the windows key and b while pushing power button. Nothing happens. I get my caps lock light blinking twice. tried hard reset. no go. Tried putting a ssd i have with a windows install on it. Just to see if it would load up. I cant for whatever reason get it to boot up. Well for all i know it is something stupid. But I can't see the **bleep** screen. Adjusting the brightness on my keyboard makes the screen get brighter and dimmer as well. Calgon. Take me away!!!

@bhirsch669, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I'm afraid this is a possible hardware failure with the display screen. Re-installing the operating system would not help. Please contact our HP Support team for Service Options:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I am not yet ready to accept that my friend. I know it is a possibility. i would like to at least figure out what the hardware issue is so I know if I am going o be willing to spend the money for repair or just sell it.

Try accessing the BIOS screen or HP Startup option to check on the display
Shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)
Power the computer back on.
As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu.
If you are able to see the option on the screen, we can run a Test on the display.
If the screen is still dark/blank, it is a Hardware issue.
Connecting a second monitor to this PC can also help us conclude the issue.
Let me know how this goes.

Well Kumar0307.
i would love to be able to do that.Unfortunately. I don't have that option. As I cannot see my on board monitor at all. And my HDMI monitor does not receive a signal from the machine until it has booted to the windows login screen. If there is a way to access it from there I would love to know. If you have a workaround for me. Please share.

Since the built-in monitor does not work, but you are able to see the display on the HDMI monitor, this means that the In-built monitor has gone bad.
There are no other troubleshooting steps that can be performed. This concludes that it is a Hardware issue with the display. Hence please contact HP Support as mentioned in my previous post.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
