How to stop "pop-ups" of Spam emails on my  desktop or anytime I am on the computer

This is not really anything to do with the brand of computer...

Popups from your email or messages that pop up in your email have to be controlled with your Email spam filter.

Popups that show up on your display while you are working might indicate a "notification" (see below) OR the computer might be infected.

If the computer is infected, you need to run a deep scan using your best security software to get rid of the vermin.

I have not used this in years, but the free version of this software used to be decent:

Malwarebytes

Windows Defender comes installed in Windows 10 - also supposed to be decent at its job:

There are all sorts of paid security options - some of the very good ones also provide a "free" version that can help.

Avast, Norton, etc...

It might also be nothing more than not having set the controls in your browser tight enough to prevent pop-ups from occurring.

This is something most browsers let you choose - pop-ups or no pop-ups.. and maybe "which pop-ups" are allowed.

Look in your Browser settings.

IF the pop-ups are "windows" related in the sense that the "notifications" are from various allowed programs installed on the computer, you can control those by switching off Notifications in Windows for "everything" or for various applications.

Method - Switch off Notifications (Windows 10)

Settings > System > Notifications and actions >

Under Notifications, set the following to OFF

  • Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows
  • Get notifications from apps and other senders

Method - Switch off Selected Notifications (Windows 10)

Settings > System > Notifications and actions >

Under Notifications

Switch ON Get notifications from apps and other senders

Scroll down to the list of "apps" > switch on / off each application

Optional

Switch OFF Show me the Windows Welcome experience...

Switch OFF Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows
