HP Pavilion 16 inch Laptop PC 16-af0000(9E1G9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I got a new computer about a month ago. My old HP Envy was running out of life so I got a new Pavilion, running Windows 11. My old laptop had a built-in SD card reader but my new one doesn't so I got an Anker portable card reader. I tried to watch, download, and save some GoPro videos to a Seagate 2T external memory drive but I kept getting error messages.

When I try to view videos that are available as mp4 files on a micro SD card, one of the messages I am getting says, "unsupported encoding settings (error 0x800701B1)." The video stops and gives me this message at different places in the playback. It might stop at :11 during one playback attempt but only errors at :50 on another playback attempt, then at :20 the next time. I checked for driver updates, downloaded the VLC  Media Player and those same videos with an .LRV extension will play there but the quality is horrible. These same videos play back on Media Player with no problems in my old laptop.

Another message tells me there's not enough memory to transfer the videos from the SD card to my external memory drive. When I try to copy the mp4 files to the external drive, the operation stops and I get the message, "There is not enough memory to complete this action." In this specific case, I am showing "1.59 TB free of 1.81 TB" for the external drive and my micro SD card shows "93.2 GB free of 119 GB." How do I not have enough memory to transfer files? Once again, I am able to move my Anker card reader and my external memory drive over to my old Envy laptop and all actions are seamlessly executed.

I'm so frustrated I want to return my new computer! I hope there is a solution to these issues out there!

Please use VLC to play videos from GoPro. You can download and install VLC from
