HP G72
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello.

I can't download the driver for the Symantic touchpad.  I get the following window:   "You have to run the 64-bit version of DPInst.exe on this machine.  Contact the vendor that provided you this package."  I've spent a couple of hours futiley trying things from online . . .  What can I do?

The touchpad works, but the Symantic tab is not on the "Mouse properties" window any more.

@Hatingit,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,

Let's try installing all the update using Windows update and then update the Bios, and Chipset drivers using HP Support Assistant.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Windows Update.

  2. Click Check for updates.

  3. Select updates to install.

    NOTE:

HP recommends selecting both the Important and the Recommended updates.

    • Important updates are important to the health of your computer. To install only important updates, click Install Updates.

    • Optional updates are not required but are recommended. To select from all available updates, click optional updates are available. Select updates from the list on the Important and Optional tabs, and then click OK.

  4. After the updates install, restart your computer, if necessary.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!
