Hi @RCS8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the black screen on the HP Envy x360 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check for External Connections:

  • Ensure that there are no external devices connected, such as monitors or projectors, as these might affect the display output.

Brightness Settings:

  • Check if the screen brightness is at its lowest setting. Adjust it using the function keys typically found on the keyboard (such as "fn + fN" keys).

Power Cycle the Laptop:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any connected external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to perform a hard reset.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and restart the laptop.

External Display:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor using the HDMI or USB Type-C port to see if the issue is with the laptop's display or the graphics output.

BIOS and Drivers Update:

Safe Mode:

  • Power off the laptop and turn it on while pressing Shift + F8 to boot into Safe Mode. Check if the black screen persists, which may indicate driver issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Remove the battery (if removable) and disconnect the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter to restart the laptop.
