HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 (534C7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Screen randomly flicks to black. Sometimes it comes back, but will flick black a few more times. Eventually it flicks to black and reboots on its own.

Hi @kalrez

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds frustrating—especially when your HP ENVY 16-inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 keeps flickering to black and rebooting unexpectedly. Since this issue could be related to drivers, hardware, or power settings, here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Update Display Drivers

  • Boot your PC in Safe Mode.
  • Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
  • Locate Display Adapters, right-click your GPU, and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your PC—Windows should automatically install the latest driver.
  • Alternatively, manually download and install the latest graphics driver from HP Support.

2. Check for Overheating Issues

  • If your laptop gets too hot, it may shut down to prevent damage.
  • Ensure vents are clear and use a cooling pad if necessary.
  • Run HP Diagnostics (F2 at startup) to check for thermal issues.

3. Adjust Power Settings

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Select High Performance mode.
  • Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  • Under Display, set Turn off display to Never.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect all peripherals.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and turn it on.
