Hi @LionHeart1962,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy x360 isn't going into sleep mode when you're away from the screen, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to the Control Panel or Settings on your computer.
- Navigate to "Power Options" or "System Settings."
- Ensure that the sleep settings are configured correctly. You can adjust settings such as when the display turns off and when the computer goes to sleep.
Update Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted drivers can sometimes cause sleep mode issues. Update your display drivers and any other relevant drivers using Device Manager or the HP support website.
Check Power Plan Settings:
- Make sure your current power plan is set to a balanced or power-saving mode. Sometimes, high-performance modes can prevent the computer from entering sleep mode promptly.
Disable Wake Timers:
- Wake timers can wake up your computer from sleep mode. Disable wake timers to see if that resolves the issue.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Sleep > Allow wake timers > Disable.
Check for External Factors:
- Sometimes, external devices or network activity can prevent your computer from sleeping. Disconnect external devices and check if the issue persists.
Reset Power Settings:
- If adjusting settings doesn't work, you can reset your power plan settings to default.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type:
powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
Update BIOS:
- Updating your BIOS to the latest version can sometimes resolve power management issues. Ensure you follow the HP instructions carefully when updating the BIOS.
Check for Software Issues:
- Some background applications or software might prevent your computer from sleeping. Try performing a clean boot to see if a specific program is causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
