@hari601, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP laptop screen goes to sleep within 20–30 seconds, which can be quite frustrating. This usually happens due to power or screen timeout settings. Let’s walk through the steps to adjust these settings and resolve the issue.

For Windows 10/11:

Open Settings
Press Windows + I to open the Settings window.

Go to System > Power & Battery

  • On the left pane, click System (if not already selected).
  • Then click Power & Battery (or Power & Sleep on some versions).

Adjust Screen and Sleep Settings
Under Screen and Sleep, change the following:

  • On battery power, turn off my screen after → Set to a longer duration (e.g., 5 or 10 minutes).
  • When plugged in, turn off my screen after → Set to your preference.
  • Do the same for Sleep settings below.

Save and Exit
Close the Settings window. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Optional: Check Advanced Power Settings

  1. In the Start Menu, type Edit Power Plan and open it.
  2. Click Change advanced power settings.
  3. Expand Display > Turn off display after and set longer durations.
  4. Click Apply and OK.
