Hi @Giga123

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

If the power light comes on for a few seconds but the screen stays black, and the Shift key blinks occasionally, your laptop is probably failing during startup (POST) rather than just having a dead screen. this can sometimes be caused by corrupted BIOS,, battery/power state issues, RAM not initializing properly, or hardware failure. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Hard reset

  1. Unplug charger
  2. Hold power button for 30–40 seconds
  3. Plug charger back in
  4. Try turning it on again

If battery is removable:

  • remove battery first before holding power button

Check the Blinking Pattern

Look closely at the blinking shift or caps lock key. It is usually blinking in a repeating pattern (e.g., 3 long blinks followed by 2 short blinks). This is a hardware diagnostic code.

Could you please provide the exact model number and product details of your HP laptop?

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
