I just bought a new monitor to use with my laptop and when I checked the display settings to change the refresh rate to 120hz there was no option to do so. the options only go up to 75hz*(with an asterisk to show that the refresh rate is incompatible) even though I am sure the monitor supports 120hz and using a 1.4HDMI cable

How do you connect them ? Note HDMI 1.4 does NOT support FHD with 120Hz
Regards.

I am connecting through HDMI since it is the only port available on the laptop. I looked it up online and it says that HDMI 1.4 should support 120hz for 1080p. is there any other things to consider that might explain why my laptop is not allowing or displaying the 120hz option?
