Hi @kpnaidu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop's touchpad and touchscreen are experiencing some issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix various software-related issues.
  • Check Touchpad Settings: Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in the laptop's settings. Sometimes, it may accidentally get disabled.
  • Update Drivers: Go to the Device Manager in the Control Panel, find the touchpad and touchscreen drivers, and check if there are any updates available. If so, install them.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the touchpad and touchscreen for any physical damage. Clean the touchpad surface and ensure there's no dirt or debris interfering with its functionality.
  • External Mouse: If the touchpad isn't working but an external mouse does, there might be an issue with the touchpad hardware.
  • Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the touchpad works fine in Safe Mode, it could indicate a software conflict.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point when the touchpad and touchscreen were working correctly.
  • Check BIOS Settings: Sometimes, touchpad and touchscreen functionality can be affected by BIOS settings. Ensure they are enabled in the BIOS.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue.
  • Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware: Ensure your laptop's BIOS or UEFI firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve hardware-related issues.

Try these steps one by one, and hopefully, you'll be able to resolve the problem with your laptop's touchpad and touchscreen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
