Hi @trno12

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your see Synaptics TPFHID Code 19 error in Windows 11 means the touchpad driver’s registry configuration is corrupted or incomplete. That’s why your pad mouse is erratic and sometimes disappears. Here’s a structured way to fix it:

Uninstall/Reinstall the Driver

  • Press Win + X → Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices → right‑click Synaptics TPFHID Device → Uninstall device.
  • Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Download and install the latest Synaptics touchpad driver from HP’s support site for your model.

Roll Back Driver (if recently updated)

  • In Device Manager, right‑click the Synaptics device → Properties → Driver tab.
  • Select Roll Back Driver if the option is available.
  • Restart and test.

Registry Cleanup (fixes Code 19 directly)

  • Press Win + R → regedit.
  • Navigate to:
  • Code
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  • Look for UpperFilters or LowerFilters entries in the right pane.
  • If present, right‑click and delete them.
  • Restart your PC. (Tip: Back up the registry first: File → Export → save a copy.)

Run Hardware Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run Hardware and Devices.
  • Apply any recommended fixes.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @trno12,

Thank you for responding.

I regret to hear that the issue is not resolved I would request you to please follow the steps:

Step 1: Disable power management (fix disappearing issue)

  1. In Device Manager
  2. Double-click the touchpad device
  3. Go to Power Management tab
  4. Uncheck:
    • “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

🧩 Step 2: Check Windows updates

Go to:

  • Settings → Windows Update → Check updates

Install everything (especially optional driver updates).

🧩 Step 3: BIOS / Hardware check (if still unstable)

  • Restart → enter BIOS (F2 / DEL / ESC depending on laptop)
  • Ensure Touchpad is enabled
  • If issues persist:
    • Could be loose cable or failing touchpad hardware touchpad randomly disappears even in BIOS
    • Works only when pressing certain areas
    • Stops working after slight movement

👉 Then it’s likely a hardware issue, not software.

Have a good day.
