Hi @chancers,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your PC camera is not working. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the camera connection
– If it’s an external webcam, make sure it is firmly plugged into the USB port.
– Try a different USB port to rule out port issues.

Test the camera with another app
– Open a different application that uses the camera (e.g., Windows Camera, Zoom, Teams).
– This helps determine if the issue is app-specific.

Check privacy settings
– Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera on Windows.
– Ensure camera access is on and apps are allowed to use the camera.

Update or reinstall drivers
– Open Device Manager → Imaging Devices or Cameras.
– Right-click your camera → select Update driver.
– If it’s still not working, uninstall the camera driver and restart the PC to reinstall automatically.

Check for hardware issues
– If the camera still doesn’t work, it may be physically blocked, damaged, or disconnected internally (for built-in cameras).
– Look for a camera shutter switch or indicator on the device.

Test with another PC (for external webcams)
– Connect the camera to another computer to confirm if it works.
– If it doesn’t, the camera itself may be defective.

Restart the PC
– Sometimes a simple restart resolves driver or app conflicts affecting the camera.

I hope this helps.
