I have a brand new ryzen 7 7730u laptop and it performs horribly while playing, i'm currently playing league of legends and i'm having fps surges randomly. I am aware that this is not a gaming pc, but it shoud offer more than enough to play this game, could someone provide any insights on this?

Hi @reimale89,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding thermal issues and bad performance on your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Thermal Throttling
Symptoms: Sudden FPS drops during play, especially after a few minutes.
Fixes:
Use tools like HWMonitor, CoreTemp, or HWiNFO to monitor CPU/GPU temps.
If temps spike above 90–95°C, your system is likely thermal throttling.
Try using a cooling pad.
Enable Performance Mode in BIOS or system settings (may be under “Power” tab).
Ensure vents are unobstructed and fans are spinning freely.
2. Power Plan Settings
Windows default may limit performance to save power.
Go to:
Control Panel > Power Options > Select High Performance
Or in Windows 11: Settings > System > Power > Power Mode > Best Performance
3. Graphics Settings
Ensure League of Legends is using the integrated Vega GPU and not falling back to a low-power mode.
In AMD Radeon Software:
Go to Graphics > Gaming tab and set a custom profile for LoL.
Turn off unnecessary features like Radeon Chill, Boost, or Anti-Lag.
Set the game profile to High Performance.
4. Drivers
Update your drivers via:
AMD Adrenalin Software – especially chipset and GPU drivers.
Windows Update (check Optional Updates too).
BIOS/UEFI update (check your laptop manufacturer’s support page).
5. Background Apps
Check for high CPU or disk usage:
Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and sort by CPU.
Disable background apps like Windows Defender (temporarily), OneDrive sync, or bloatware that came with the laptop.
I hope this helps.
