Thanks for sharing that—when the touchpad stops responding, it can really throw off your workflow.
You may try several troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:
Enable the Touch Pad:
- Look for a touch pad toggle button on your keyboard (often represented by a touch pad icon on one of the F keys). Press this key along with the 'Fn' key to enable or disable the touch pad.
Check Touch Pad Settings:
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Touchpad' and ensure the touch pad is enabled.
- Adjust sensitivity settings to see if that solves the problem.
Update Drivers:
- Open 'Device Manager' from the Start menu.
- Locate 'Mice and other pointing devices' and expand the section.
- Right-click on your touch pad driver and select 'Update driver.'
- Alternatively, visit HP Support to manually download and install the latest driver software for your model.
Perform a System Restart:
- Sometimes simply restarting your computer can resolve hardware issues.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Update & Security' > 'Windows Update' and check for any pending updates that might affect hardware functionality.
