Hi @sabarish011, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Spectre x360 is experiencing ghost touches, where the touchscreen is registering unintended touches in the left corner, causing the cursor to move and open apps on its own. This issue can be caused by software glitches, hardware malfunctions, or interference.
Steps to Fix Ghost Touch Issues on HP Spectre x360
Disable and Re-enable the Touchscreen Driver
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Locate HID-compliant touch screen.
- Right-click and select Disable device.
- Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select Enable device.
- Check if the ghost touch issue persists.
Update or Reinstall the Touchscreen Driver
- Open Device Manager again.
- Right-click on HID-compliant touch screen and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- If the issue persists, right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
Check for Windows and HP Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Install any pending updates.
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for any firmware or driver updates related to the touchscreen.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect the charger and any external devices.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Turn the laptop back on and test the touchscreen.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP UEFI Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Touchscreen Test.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to check for touchscreen issues.
Calibrate the Touchscreen
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchscreen & pen.
- Click Calibrate under Tablet PC Settings.
- Follow the instructions to recalibrate the touchscreen.
Disable Touchscreen (Temporary Fix)
If the issue is persistent, you can temporarily disable the touchscreen:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Disable device.
Check for Physical Issues
- Clean the touchscreen with a soft microfiber cloth to remove any dust or moisture.
- Check if the issue happens when the laptop is plugged in or on battery (faulty chargers can cause interference).
- If the issue occurs when the laptop is folded into tablet mode, check if the screen frame is pressing against the display.
If none of the above steps work, consider restoring your system to a previous working state:
- Open Settings > System > Recovery.
- Click Go back to a previous version or Reset this PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
