HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f1000 (508S0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

After a crash I installed win11 from a USB boot disk. The laptop works again but the driver for the touch screen is missing and I cannot find it anywhere

Hi @Stefdehaas,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding touch screen driver!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

To resolve the issue with missing drivers on your HP Spectre x360 16-inch 2-in-1 Laptop (16-f1000), please follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official HP drivers page: Click here
  2. Click on "Detect my software and drivers" on the page. This will install a driver utility on your PC that automatically searches for and installs any missing or outdated drivers.zoey7886_0-1737986911643.png

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, could you confirm if the media used to reinstall the operating system was an HP recovery media?

  • If it wasn’t, we recommend using HP Recovery Media to reinstall the operating system. The HP Recovery Media includes all the necessary drivers and software compatible with your device. You can learn more about it here

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Zoey,

Thank you for your reply and your suggestions.

I indeed had to re-install Win 11 from scratch not being an HP recovery

Reason for this was that I was faced with a non-working internal webcam and was instructed by HP support to run HP recovery to see if that would resolve the problem.

Well, that was a lot of "fun". The recovery programm crashed leaving me with a totally disfunctional laptop hence I was forced to get it back to live with a bare Win 11 install and than installing the different drivers seperately but for the touch pad driver that is nowhere to be found.

This whole exercise took me a whole day this weekend (first 3 hours for a non functioning recovery exercise and than over 5 hours to re-install windows and all the drivers, printers, office etc.etc.)

Using the "detect my software and drivers" does not resolve the missing touch screen driver as this exercise responds after a couple of minutes that everything is okay and nothing is missing?!?!

So I hope you understand that I am somewhat reluctant to run the HP recovery suite once again and experience the same all over and waste the better part of the day on it again.

I also do not understand why I have to re-install Win 11 through the HP recovery all over again. The laptop works fine, almost everything works (including the internal webcam by miracle) So why is it so difficult to indicate where I can find the touch screen drivers so I can get that part working again.

I hope you can help me with a "quikc-and-dirty-solution" instead of a days work

Looking forward to your reply

Regards

@Stefdehaas I understand how frustrating this must be but don't worry, I'm here to help you!

I'm just curious to know if you are talking about the touchscreen or the touchpad drivers because you mentioned both in the last response.
I am not asking you to use Recovery Media Tool again. I just wanted to know if that's what you used in the first place.
Now that I know, use this link if it's a touchscreen.

And use this link if it's a touchpad.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Zoey,

Thanks for your help, support and effort.

It is indeed the touchscreen that is not working, touchpad works fine, sorry for the confusion.

But having said that, your link to the touchscreen driver unfortunately did not do the trick.

Installed, restarted the computer but no touchscreen.

Checked the control panel and under HID devices the driver is not listed

What other tips/tricks do you have?

regards

Stef
