Hi @AnShMa,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I completely understand how it feels when your HP laptop’s touchscreen, once a smooth, intuitive way to interact, suddenly stops responding. It’s like reaching out to touch something familiar and getting no response. Let’s gently walk through how to check if it can be enabled and whether it’s upgradeable.
First, Let’s Check If Your Laptop Has a Touchscreen
Not all HP laptops come with touchscreen hardware. Here's how to find out:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Look for a Han ID-compliant touch screen.
- If you see it, your laptop has touchscreen hardware.
- If it’s missing, your laptop likely does not support touch, and it cannot be upgraded. Touchscreen capability requires a special digitizer layer built into the screen.
You can also check by:
- Opening Control Panel → Tablet PC Settings → Click Setup → Choose Touch Input.
- If it says “No pen or touch input is available for this display”, then unfortunately, your screen is not touch-enabled.
If Your Laptop Does Support Touch, But It’s Not Working
Here’s how to re-enable or fix it:
- Enable Touchscreen in Device Manager
- Right-click HID-compliant touch screen → Select Enable device.
- Restart your laptop and test the screen.
- Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Right-click the same device → Choose Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall it automatically.
- Calibrate the Touchscreen
- Go to Control Panel → Tablet PC Settings → Calibrate.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore accuracy.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
