I have an Envy x350, and since yesterday, when I want to left-click or right-click physically, it feels hard and does not want to go down, as if there is no room to do so. This is especially noticable when i set it down on a table.

Hi @Harrison24,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I hear you when the click feels stiff or doesn’t register properly, it can make even simple tasks frustrating. This issue on your HP Envy x360 15-fh0000 usually points to a mechanical or alignment problem with the touchpad click mechanism, and it’s often more noticeable when the laptop is on a hard surface because the chassis flex is reduced.
Why This Happens
- Touchpad hinge or bracket misalignment (common after long use or minor impact).
- Debris under the touchpad is restricting movement.
- Battery swelling is pressing against the underside of the touchpad (critical to check for safety).
- Chassis pressure is when placed on a flat surface.
Step 1: Quick Checks
- Lift the laptop slightly and try clicking if it feels normal; the issue is likely chassis flex or pressure.
- Inspect the touchpad edges for dust or debris. Clean gently with a microfiber cloth.
Step 2: Battery Safety Check
- If the click feels hard and the touchpad looks slightly raised, stop using the laptop and check for battery swelling:
- Power off.
- Look at the touchpad from the side, any bulge?
- If yes, do not continue using. Contact HP immediately for battery replacement.
Step 3: Software Reset
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Touchpad.
- Reset to default settings. (This won’t fix mechanical issues, but it rules out sensitivity misconfiguration.)
Step 4: Hardware Fix
If no swelling and cleaning doesn’t help:
- The touchpad bracket may need reseating.
- HP recommends service for this model because the touchpad is integrated with the palm rest.
