Hi @sp135667
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand the touchpad is not working on your HP device running Windows 10 (64-bit). From the image, I can see Synaptics SMBus TouchPad is listed in Device Manager, which indicates Windows is detecting the touchpad hardware.
Let's try these troubleshooting steps:
Restart the notebook and repeatedly tap F2 at startup to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Select Component Tests.
- Run the Touchpad/Mouse Test (if available).
- Note any failure ID displayed.
Check if the touchpad has been accidentally disabled:
- Double-tap the upper-left corner of the touchpad (if your model supports this feature).
- Test whether the pointer responds.
In Device Manager:
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click Synaptics SMBus TouchPad and select Disable device.
- Restart the PC.
- Return to Device Manager and Enable device again.
Reinstall the touchpad driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click Synaptics SMBus TouchPad.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device if available.
- Restart the computer and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
Verify Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Ensure the touchpad is turned On.
- If an external mouse is connected, disconnect it and test again.
Perform a BIOS restore to defaults:
- Restart the PC and press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Press F9 to load BIOS defaults.
- Save changes with F10 and restart.
If the touchpad still does not respond after these steps, please share the full HP product number/model and confirm whether the touchpad stopped working after a Windows update, driver update, or unexpectedly during normal use. This will help us provide the next troubleshooting steps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
