HI,
Touchpad is not working.
I checked the device manager and on the 12C HID device got the following errors:
- code 10
- problem code 000000A
- problem status device power failure C000009E
In device manager, the touchpad does not show up under mice and other pointing devices.
Have completed a forced Shutdown and reset, completed HP diagnostic to check (showed no response), updated BIOS & drivers and also changed out the touchpad.
Anything else i can try to get it to work?

Hi @Al329,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps. Since you've updated the BIOS and drivers, replaced the touchpad, and run diagnostics without success, here are a few additional suggestions you can try.
Rollback Driver:
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the 12C HID device and choose "Properties."
- Go to the "Driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available. This can revert to a previous driver version.
System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, you might consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state when the touchpad was working.
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection.
- Click on "System Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date by checking for Windows updates. Sometimes, a system update can resolve compatibility issues.
Check Power Management Settings:
- Right-click on the 12C HID device, go to "Properties," and navigate to the "Power Management" tab.
- Uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.
BIOS Settings:
- Check your laptop's BIOS settings for any options related to the touchpad. Ensure that it is enabled in the BIOS.
System File Checker (SFC):
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow
- This will scan and repair any corrupted system files.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If possible, connect an external mouse to see if it works. This can help determine if the issue is with the touchpad or a broader system problem.
Reinstall Windows:
- As a last resort, reinstalling Windows may resolve the issue. Ensure you back up important data before proceeding
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
