Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
pavilion 17g-150cy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My touchscreen is broken (glass is cracked and shattered), after receiving assist from this location regarding the part number needed, i have more inquiries regarding the digitizer glass.

1) Will the LCD screen operate if the digitizer glass is damaged ( trying to determine if the screen is operational )?

2) Can the digitizer glass be purchased and installed separately?

3) Can a "non-touch" screen be installed with this model and if so, what software or hardware changes are required?

Thanks for your assistance in advance

Hi @newlife6may

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you have a couple of questions related to the display of your computer.

I’d love to help!

Here are the answers to your questions.

  1. Yes, the screen may work if only the digitizer is damaged.
  2. You need to check with HP part store whether the only the digitizer is available.
  3. You can install a regular LCD screen on your computer but HP doesn’t recommend that.

Below is the link to HP part store.

Thanks for your response, we'll look to see if the part is sold separately.
