Hi @12Sadie

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If the touchscreen on your HP 17 Laptop PC (17-c2000) stopped working during setup, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is up to date. Install any pending updates.

Re-enable the Touchscreen:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Human Interface Devices section.
  • Look for HID-compliant touch screen. Right-click it and select Disable device, then right-click again and select Enable device.

Check Touchscreen Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on HID-compliant touch screen and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Run the Hardware Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Look for any hardware troubleshooting options.

BIOS Settings:

  • Restart the laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
  • Check if the touchscreen option is enabled in the BIOS settings.

Restore Default Settings:

  • If you made any changes in BIOS, consider restoring the default settings.

System Restore:

  • If the touchscreen was working previously, you could perform a system restore to revert to a point when it was functioning

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
