@Gurjot_Singh1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble adjusting the display brightness on your HP ENVY x360 - 15-cn0003ca after a recent driver update on Windows 11.
It sounds like a display driver issue, even after resetting your computer. Sometimes a generic Windows driver can be installed, or the updated driver might be corrupted.
Let's try a few steps to diagnose and resolve this:
Check Brightness in BIOS
- Restart your laptop.
- Press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS.
- If the screen is still dim in BIOS, it may indicate a hardware issue (e.g., backlight failure).
Reinstall Display Drivers
- Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics driver (e.g., Intel UHD or AMD Radeon) → Select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Alternatively, download the latest drivers from the HP Drivers & Software page for your model.
Disable Adaptive Brightness
- Go to Settings → System → Display.
- Turn off “Change brightness automatically when lighting changes”.
- Also go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Display → Set Enable adaptive brightness to Off for both battery and plugged in.
Use Windows Mobility Center
- Press Win + X → Select Mobility Center.
- Try adjusting brightness from there.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reconnect everything and power it on.
Test with an External Monitor
- Connect your laptop to an external display.
- If the external screen is bright, your laptop screen/backlight may be faulty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
