Sooo.... I have a docking station that worked just fine with my lenovo, I wanted to use my hp but when i plug in the usb-c it doesn't register. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but need this up and running so any advice would be appreciated

Dock- Anker usb 3.0
Connection- usb-c 3.1 to usb-b 3.0 I think ( I bought an aftermarket cord because the original docking station came with just a usb connection?

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06057257
Its USB-C port is for Data transfer up to 5 Gb/s. Why not plug your Anker usb 3.0 directly to USB-A port ? Your machine has 2 USB-A ports.
Regards.

I've got a feeling must be something wrong with the Anker dock. What is its model ?

Here's the thing, both of those connections work and display properly using my Lenovo (in fact it allows 3 independent displays using this computer and **bleep**ing station)so I'm inclined to believe the docking station is functioning properly.
