Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone. Recently, I have had one very annoying problem. When I play games on my laptop, for example GTA 5, after a while it spills out with the error err_gfx_d3d_init and when I try to log in again, I have to restart the laptop. restarting, a blue screen appears with the error video dxgkrnl fatal error. Then when the nvidia video card is restarted, you have to turn off the laptop and turn it on and everything is corrected. This happens with all demanding games. I looked for a solution on the Internet, the latest drivers, the antivirus only Windows, did a failure to factory-nothing helped. How to solve this problem, or can I play games through it normally?

@Виталий2002

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Does it happen only in GTA or other games too? Does it happen on online and offline games too?

Are you overclocking?

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

I still have this error in two games: GTA 5 online and CS: GO and I don't know what it is connected with. At first I thought this was due to overheating (the processor was 95 degrees) but when I did undervolting the problem did not dare although the temperatures subsided. I didn't overclock the processor.

@Виталий2002 When getting the VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR, downloading the latest Windows 10 updates and drivers, running the Hardware Troubleshooter or reinstalling the graphics card driver are all recommended fixes.

Let's start with this, we’re going to turn to Windows 10’s own troubleshooting tools. The first tool we’re going to seek help from is the ‘unified’ troubleshooter. This tool can be used for dealing with various problems, including the BSoD issues.

Here’s how to run the BSoD troubleshooter in Windows 10:

  1. Open the Settings app and go to the Update & Security section.
  2. Select Troubleshoot from the menu on the left.
  3. Select BSoD from the right pane and click Run the troubleshooter.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the troubleshooter.

Run the SFC scan

The SFC scan is another troubleshooter that functions similarly to Windows 10’s built-in troubleshooting tool. This command-line utility searches the system for potential issues and resolves them if possible.

Here’s how to run the SFC scan in Windows 10:

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu button, and open Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Enter the following line and press Enter: sfc/scannow.
  3. Wait until the process is done (it may take a while).
  4. If the solution is found, it will automatically be applied.
  5. Now, close the Command Prompt and restart your computer.

Let me know how that pans out,

If you feel I was helpful, simply click on Accept as Solution to help the community grow,

That said, I will have someone follow-up on this to ensure you've been helped,

Just in case you don't get back to us,

have a good day, ahead.

What if there is no BSOD troubleshooter? But this is how I did all the points except this and nothing has changed, only now there is no blue screen itself, but it still pours from the games.

HP Recommended

You don't see the BSoD option and the run the troubleshooter?

@Виталий2002 Okay, so the troubleshooter is unavailable, what about the SFC scan? Did you run that? if not, please do,

If yes, and yet the issue persists, please run an extensive h/w test on the device to ensure this isn't a hardware issue:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
