hp v242h monitor
Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

Brand new mac mini. Want to use HDMI, but when I connect cable, boot up mac and turn on Monitor, the mac starts to go into new product mode, then quickly picture switches to 2 alternating graphic pictures of what looks to be 2 different computers. I gather this means monitor is looking for a suitable source??

By way of a test of the monitor, I hooked it up to a Macbook Pro using DVI and it worked fine. Just no luck with the HDMI.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to HP Forums @lensdog,

I see you are having an issue connecting the HP monitor with Mac Mini, I would like to help. Kudos to you for trying the monitor on a different computer.

The issue you are facing is not with the monitor, it is to do with the computer settings. The monitor works like a plug and play device.

Recommend you to perform Apple update using the Apple menu on the top left corner of the screen. (If you are not getting any display with this monitor and if the Mac mini has 2 display ports, try connecting both the monitors to get a display and do an update using the Apple menu)

Also, if possible try a different HDMI cable.

If none this work, recommend you to check with Apple for support.

Let me know if this helps, for further assistance.
