Hi @YoinkMyMoney,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop's gaming experience!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To make your laptop perform better when on battery:

  1. Go to your settings and find the Power & Battery section. Set the Power Mode to Best Performance. If you don't see this option, look for Additional Power Settings and select High Performance.

  2. For better graphics performance in games, go to the Display section in Settings and find Graphics. Find your game in the list or add it manually, then select Options and choose High Performance. Restart your laptop to see if it improves.

  3. If your laptop has an NVIDIA or AMD GPU, make sure to tweak the settings for better performance:
For NVIDIA users: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings, and set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. Under Program Settings, select your game and ensure it uses the dedicated GPU.
For AMD users: Open AMD Radeon Software, go to Performance, then Tuning. Select Gaming Mode and enable Boost for your game.

  4. Update your GPU drivers using GeForce Experience (for NVIDIA) or AMD Adrenalin. Also, make sure Windows is up to date by going to Windows Update in the settings.

  5. Lastly, it's always a good idea to plug in your laptop while gaming. Even with these settings, gaming laptops usually perform better when plugged in because they reduce power to the GPU and CPU on battery. If you need to game on battery, try lowering the graphics settings or using a power bank for laptops to help.

Hope this helps improve your gaming experience! 🎮
