HP Notebook - 15-ba113cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I turn on the laptop and everything is fine but  after a few minutes the screen gets blurry and the mouse freezes and even a youtube video will freeze but if you slighty move the laptop screen the blurring goes away and the mouse unfreezes and the touch pad again works.  If you want a few minutes longer the entire process repeats  What can be done to fix this?

Thanks for the anticipated advice.

Hi @practice,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Notebook - 15, where the screen gets blurry and the mouse freezes but temporarily resolves when you move the screen, is likely related to a loose or damaged display cable. Here's what you can do to address this problem.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Check for External Factors:

  • Ensure the laptop is placed on a stable surface.
  • Verify that there are no objects or devices near the laptop that could cause interference.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure that your graphics drivers and BIOS are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Test in Safe Mode:

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, it may be a software-related issue.

Hardware Check

If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it's likely a hardware problem, specifically with the display cable or connector.

Inspect Display Cable:

  • The symptoms suggest that there might be a loose or partially disconnected display cable inside the laptop.
  • Moving the screen may temporarily restore the connection, which is why the problem resolves when you adjust the screen.

Open and Reseat the Cable:

  • Warning: This step involves opening the laptop, which could void your warranty. Proceed only if you're comfortable doing so, or seek professional help.
  • Turn off your laptop and unplug it from any power source.
  • Carefully open the laptop to access the display cable. This usually involves removing the bezel and other components.
  • Check the connection of the display cable to both the motherboard and the screen. Ensure it's securely connected.
  • If you notice any damage to the cable, it might need to be replaced.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially fix the issue with your HP Notebook - 15.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
