Hello,
I'm trying to connect my 22CWA monitor to my Dell Latitude E5440. It is not being detected when connected with HDMI or VGA cables.
The only software the HP support site has for the monitor is the HP PC Hardware diagnostic UEFI.
Is this a driver problem? Where can i get an updated driver?
Any help much appreciated

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you need help connecting your HP 22CWA monitor to your PC,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Does an alternate monitor work? Did you update the graphics card from the Dell website?
Have you checked the user guide for details?
(Click here to view it, if you have done it yet)
While you respond to that, here's a few things you need to know:
The monitor is capable of supporting analog or HDMI input. The video mode is determined by the video cable used.
It will automatically determine which inputs have valid video signals. The inputs can be selected by pressing the Source button on the front panel or through the On-Screen Display (OSD) feature by pressing the Menu button.
Steps to follow:
1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near the computer.
2. Connect a signal cable.
● For analog operation, use a VGA signal cable. Connect the VGA signal cable to the VGA connector on the rear of the monitor and the other end to the VGA connector on the computer
● Connect an HDMI cable to an HDMI port on the rear of the monitor and the other end to the HDMI port on the source device. The HDMI cable is included for select models only.
3. Connect one end of the power cord to the power supply (1) and the other end to a grounded electrical outlet (2), and then connect the round end of the power supply cord to the monitor (3).

I have tried both VGA and HDMI cables. The monitor works with either of them but it just duplicates the my laptop monitor.
When I try and detect the 2nd montor (the 22CWA) Windows doesn't find it so I can't extend my displays.
My laptop does not have a CD drive so I can't load the driver or documentation. I found the manual online but it doesn't help.

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
If both monitor work as an individual connection, however, do not function as an extended or dual display when connected to the laptop, it's an issue with the laptop and not the monitor.
I recommend you Contact the laptop manufacturer for further assistance.
If I have helped you identify the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Could it be a driver problem? I looked on your support site and there's no driver listed for windows 10. I don't have a CD reader on my laptop so I can't get it from the CD.
I will try the monitor on a 2nd laptop when i have time.

HI,
as @Riddle_Decipher is out of the office today, I'm replying to you. You've been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills, remarkable patience and great attitude. Kudos to you for that.
I checked the HP website and do not find any drivers for this monitor. Ony if a monitor required the drivers, then they will be made available on the HP website for a download.
Hope this helps. Cheers! 🙂

I am now having the same problem. To say that it is a computer problem is not exactly true. I have the same problem with a Acer Spin 5 and a HP Pavilion 15 CC123CL. Slightly different manifestations - HP displays but does not recognize the monitor, Acer does not display nor recognize the monitor. I think you may have a driver issue in a recent update.
Kind of sucks that whatever update you sent to windows caused this issue - cannot even get an HP computer to talk to an HP device.
Would love a fix. Please do not ask me to roll back drivers - HP Pavilion is brand new. Purchased because I needed a working computer and thought the Acer was at fault. Guess that is not the case.
Next post will go to Facebook if I cannot get some help here

I just found another driver over the net. Unfortunately I can't remember where I got it but once it was installed, the monitor works in extended mode. I'll try and look for the driver when I get home.
It's ironic that HP the supplier can't support their own hardware.
