HP Recommended
HP Victus 15

Computer:

Hp Victus 15

Windows Version: 10.0.22621 Build 22621

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS with Radeon Graphics, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050

RAM: 16 GB DDR5

Refresh Rate: 144 Hz

Issue:

The screen will randomly freeze: get stuck on a single frame and won't update/refresh. Mouse/keyboard inputs do NOT cause the screen to become responsive, nor does [win+shift+ctrl+b] screen refresh shortcut. Causing the pc to sleep via power button or closing lid usually resolves the issue temporarily. All other processes seem to work fine while frozen (audio continues to play, video games can be controlled, text can be written). It appears to be only a screen/graphics issue.

Will not unfreeze until sleep or restart.

screen artifacts (horizontal pixel lines of colored noise) sometimes occur around freezes. (never present during freeze frame)

The issue is hard to reproduce and does not seem to be related to a specific application or process. freezes will occur seemingly randomly in intervals ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Does not seem to be related to lag or high load processes.

I purchased the laptop refurbished from Amazon (here). The issues was present even before I completed the windows setup wizard. I had not installed anything or made any changes prior to the first occurrence of the issue

What I have tried:

- Restart/Reboot

- Reinstalled all display adapter drivers

[no effect]

I am considering returning the device, however, if I can find a solution or effective troubleshooting steps, I would greatly appreciate being able to resolve the issue instead.
