since the update to win11 2023H2 (I think); my laptop screen is black. I get it working fine via hdmi to external monitor. tried the obligatory hard reset and farting around with other suggestions with no joy. I wanted to update the intel graphics driver but when running the install it grumbles about the manufacturer not allowing it (i guess as HP has nvidia card installed too). I really don't want to roll back the laptop but not sure what other options I have as HP don't provide driver support for my laptop on win11 (which is just great....). anyways, really hoping there is a way to solve. any help much appreciated.

Hi @youngieB ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion 14 after the Windows 11 update. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and boot into Safe Mode. If the screen works fine in Safe Mode, it could be a driver issue.
2. Rollback Graphics Driver:
- While in Safe Mode, try rolling back the graphics driver to a previous version. Right-click on the Start button, go to Device Manager, find the Display adapters section, right-click on your graphics card, and choose Properties. Then, go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver if available.
3. Update Graphics Driver:
- If rolling back the driver doesn't work, try updating the graphics driver. You mentioned that you had issues updating the Intel graphics driver. You might want to download the latest driver directly from the Intel website instead of using the automatic update tool.
4. NVIDIA Driver Update:
- Ensure that your NVIDIA graphics driver is also up to date. Download the latest driver from the official NVIDIA website.
5. BIOS Update:
- Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve compatibility issues with new operating systems.
6. System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a point before the problematic update. This can be done from the Windows Recovery Environment.
7. Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows 11 is fully updated. Microsoft regularly releases updates that may contain bug fixes and compatibility improvements.
8. HP Support Assistant:
- Use HP Support Assistant if you have it installed. It can help you identify and fix issues with your HP laptop, including driver updates.
9. External Monitor:
- If you haven't already, connect your laptop to an external monitor, go to Device Manager, and disable the built-in display. Then, re-enable it. Disconnect the external monitor and see if the laptop display works.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
