Hi, it's me again.  I'm ready to drop kick this thing out the back door.  it seems that I can go about a month, then it happens again.  I'll open the lid of my laptop, and there will be no cursor and no response from the tough pad.  I have been flashing my BIOS and that works, but who wants to do that every month.  The problem seems to be software related.  It's not the synaptic driver, it totally disappears from the computer's configuration, like it never happened.

a common denominator to these events is that I was using an application in full screen mode.  I closed the lid, and the problem recurred upon reopening.  I tried to duplicate the event but it still worked.

Please request a product review with HP and Microsoft on this hardware issue.  I am including a printout from the event view of this device after I got it going again.

thanks for your help.

@LTW1950
Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.

Next Step: BIOS Defaults - (After hard reset follow the below steps while starting the computer)
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.
5) Press F10 to save and exit. this should fix the issue.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
