13-4101dx wifi stops working after updating Windows 10

This WIFI is a real pain,

I reset the Network then it works, I reboot stops working..

I installed the latest AC 7265 drivers from Intel, the same thing

What's going on with this WIFI?
Other laptos using this card experience similar issues on Windows 10; is the included model a bad card?
can I replace this garbage with a better card?

Is there some other configuration I have to do in order to get this thing working properly?

Hi:

I have read about issues with that card from other forum members.

There may be some issues with the older hardware revisions of the 7265 card. 

If you look at the service manual for your model notebook, there are two of the same model AC cards listed with different part numbers, for example.

I have the same card in my HP Stream 11 Pro G4 which has an Intel Apollo Lake processor and chipset.

I was kind of surprised HP put that old card in a newer notebook.

The part number my 7265 card has is:   793840-005.  That is the same part number as one of those listed in your notebook's service manual.

I am running W10 v1809 and the card works perfectly.  Never had an issue with it at all on 1803 or 1809.

I only have the wifi driver installed, not the Intel wifi software that is included with the driver you downloaded.

The only suggestion I can offer (other than replacing the wifi card) is this...

Download and unzip the W10 x64 IT admin driver to its folder.   1st one at the top left side of the page.

Then go to the Wndows control panel>Programs>uninstall a program.

If there is any Intel wifi software listed there, uninstall it.

Then go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Intel wifi adapter listed there.  Select Uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.

Restart the PC.

After Windows 10 installs the default Intel wifi driver, click on the Intel wifi adapter.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the wifi driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver will install.

Then restart the PC.

I don't know if your PC has a BIOS whitelist or not, so upgrading the wifi card would be a gamble.

If you want to risk it, I would suggest this card...

This is good data!

I did your procedure, the card connects but drops the connection; a nighmare.

I'll try to see what you mention about the card part#.

Please post back and let us know if installing the newer Intel 8260 wifi card worked, and resolved the issue.

In my case I just fixed the issue by openning the back cover and finding that one of the two wifi card antenna connectors was not connected...  weird.
I reconnected the thing and now it works well, it is not a fast card but it works.

That's good news.

It happens sometimes.

Usually you will have lousy reception or no Bluetooth when one of the antenna cables is not connected.

If that's the case, then there is no BIOS whitelist, and perhaps the even better/faster Intel 9260 will work too.

It is also important to mention here that faster cards will also drain battery faster...

If your 7265 wifi card is working just fine, now, I see no advantage to installing the 8260.

It basically has the same specs as the 7265.
